Skillnets is a scheme that provides free training courses to jobseekers in areas of skills shortages. Under Skillnets – groups of companies with similar training needs set up training networks and offer courses to jobseekers .
Skillnets mission is the “promotion and facilitation of work-based training and upskilling as key elements in sustaining Ireland’s national competitiveness.”
Skillnets was established in 1999 and is funded from the National Training Fund (NTF) through the Department of Education and Skills (DES). At the start of 2016 there were over 12,000 businesses in Ireland involved in Skillnets training programmes
Courses are offered in a variety of sectors including:

• Healthcare
• Design
• Retail
• Manufacturing
• Engineering
• International financial services
• Pharmaceutical
• Agriculture
