You could work as a beach lifeguard in County Mayo – Ireland for the summer .
If you have a beach lifeguard award from the Irish Water Safety Association or the Royal Lifesaving Society (Ireland) or an equivalent qualificationt hat would be good. You MUST hold at least Rescue 3 level of the IWSA or an equivalent award.The weather might not be as hot as some places – but you can enjoy the surfing and scenery.

New Irish Job Opportunities for February

These are some of the major job announcements in Ireland this month  . These announcements may not mean that the firms are recruiting straight away – but you should keep an eye out for upcoming vacancies

The  University of Limerick  announced the creation of 1,000 new jobs on thieir campus from 2016 to 2018.

Centra  – the nationwide  convenience store retailer plans to open 16 new shops in 2016 which will create  480 new jobs.

Abtran   : 130 jobs have been announced at Abtran in Cork  They will begin recruiting immediately for 130 new roles working at their Cork call centre on a new contract with  Sky.

CBE , based in County Mayo , produce software for point of sale and they are to   create 40 new jobs in an  expansion that will see the workforcegrow to 150 people by the end of 2017.

Intuity –  a tech company in Galway –  is to create 100 new jobs over the next 3 years with recruitment starting immediately.

Credit Suisse in Dublin  will open a new branch in 2016  creating 100 jobs.

Equifax   has also announced the creation of 100 new jobs in Dublin for 2016/2017

Ryanair will soon be trying  to fill hundreds of cabin crew positions, with a recruitment day scheduled in Dublin on Feb 12th  ( More Here ) .

 

Graduate Jobs at Irish Distillers

Irish Distillers are best known for the Jameson’s Whiskey brand . They also make Powers , Paddy , Green Spot and Redbreast Irish whiskies as well as Cork Dry Gin –  plus lots of other top brands.
They employ over 600 people across their operations in Cork and Dublin.

Irish Distillers has been  part of Pernod Ricard since 1988 and is Ireland’s leading supplier of spirits and wines In Ireland they usually run two graduate training programs.

1) The Jameson Graduate Distiller Programme :
This is for  graduate placements within the production division.   It is a 2  year placement, working as a Jameson Graduate Distiller, at either the Distillery in Midleton, Co. Cork or at the bottling, supply and logistics site in Dublin. For this role they usually want graduates in subjectss  such as Process Engineering , Chemical Engineering, Food Science or Environmental Studies.

2) Jamesons International Brand Ambassador Programme :
You are guaranteed travel with this graduate programme.
Jamesons Brand Ambassadors work across a wide range of marketing activities such as brand activation, education and mentoring. You’ll  be expected to get on first name terms with bartenders, distributors, bloggers and event organisers in your local area.

The first 4 weeks involves  intensive training in the Dublin  head office after which you are sent to your foreign market. The main aim is to convert 25-35 year olds to the “Jameson way of life”  through trial, market research and media channels.
A degree in marketing or something similar would be useful as would  foreign language skills.
You get a 1-week comprehensive whiskey education at The Irish Whiskey Academy in Midleton Distillery, Co. Cork , a 4 week training course in Dublin followed by a 12-month international market placement .

There is still a lot of unemployment in Ireland  – but there are shortages of ICT skills in the following areas:

software development : programming languages, technologies and frameworks (e.g. Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, Summit, Objective C, J2EE, Spring, Struts, Hibernate ORM, jQuery, AJAX, JSP, PHP, HTML, CSS, Python, Ruby,.NET)

Cloud (e.g. SaaS, web service, API , REST, SOAP, backbone.js )

web/mobile content management – (e.g. Interactive visual, UX/UI Visual designer, Drupal, Joomla, AngularJsS , Sencha Touch, Magneto )

IT project management and business analysis testing and troubleshooting.

Databases/(e.g. NoSQL, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, IBMS DB2, Hadoop)

Also there is a need for specific product knowledge (e.g. SAP Crystal Reports, Lotus Domino, KANA, InelliPrint Analytics etc.)
