Online Registration System for New Workers in Ireland


Revenue have a new online Jobs and Pensions Service  where you have to  register your new job or private pension.
It was officially launched on  12 September 2016 as part of the myAccount service on Revenue Online.

The Jobs and Pensions service replaces Form 12A, so employees must use this service when registering their first job in Ireland.
When you register – a tax credit certificate (TCC) will be  issued to both the employer and employee.

When should I Use this Service?

  • if you are starting your first job in Ireland
  • if you are changing jobs and the previous job has been ceased on Revenue records.
  • if you are starting a second or subsequent job (i.e. another job in addition to your  main job)
  • if you are starting to receive payments from a private pension (i.e. not a Department of Social Protection (DSP) pension).

If you are unable to use online services, you should contact your local Revenue office for help .

Free Training Courses for the Unemployed

Skillnets is a scheme that provides free training courses to jobseekers in areas of skills shortages.  Under Skillnets – groups of companies with similar training needs set up training networks and offer courses to jobseekers .
Skillnets mission  is the “promotion and facilitation of work-based training and upskilling as key elements in sustaining Ireland’s national competitiveness.”

Skillnets was established in 1999 and is funded from the National Training Fund (NTF) through the Department of Education and Skills (DES).  At the start of 2016 there were over 12,000 businesses in Ireland  involved in Skillnets training programmes

Courses are offered in a variety of sectors including:
• IT
• Healthcare
• Design
• Retail
• Manufacturing
• Engineering
• International financial services
• Pharmaceutical
• Agriculture

Areas of Job Growth in Ireland

The jobs situation in Ireland seems to be improving in 2016   – with increased job vacancies in many sectors.
There are some areas of employment in Ireland where there are shortages of certain skills and experienced staff.  If you have qualifications and / or experience in these areas you will have more chance of finding employment in 20166 and 2017.

 

Construction: this sector is growing quite fast and there are vacancies for skilled tradespeople  such as electricians and carpenters as well as professional roles such as quantity surveyors and project managers.

ICT   Some of the areas of skill shortages include software developers, network engineers, systems architects, data analysts, information security analysts, tech support with languages, and project managers.

Financial  :   Jobs are often available for  financial accountants  people with  fund accounting supervisory roles, regulatory & compliance skills, deposit and treasury management roles, risk analysts and actuaries, and financial clerks

Health and social work:   Difficult to fill vacancies include doctors, nurses, radiographers, specialist technicians and care workers.

Accommodation and Food services: This sector has experienced considerable turnover for elementary occupations .  Vacancies for chefs are also very common .

Transportation : Job vacancies  for HGV drivers and mechanics are often hard to fill.

 

German Speaking Jobs Galway

Wayfair is an online furnishing and homewares retailer  – and they plan  to create 160 new jobs in Galway during 2016/2017 the coming months. The new positions will be for call centre staff for the European market. –  many of the jobs will require German language skills and others will need Spanish or French.

The company employed 4,604 people as of March 31, 2016 and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts with operations throughout North America and Europe.

Domino’s Pizza Jobs in Ireland

Domino’s Pizza are going to be expanding in Ireland – and there could be around 200 new job vacancies with them in the next few months.
They plan to expand into the following areas:

Drogheda – North

Dublin – Blanchardstown

Dublin – Citywest

Dublin – Cornelscourt

Dublin – Maynooth/Greenfield

Dublin – Portmarnock (Malahide)

Dublin – Shankill

Sligo

Domino’s just do takeaway Pizza – and the roles will involve Customer Service, Pizza Making, Oven Tending and Delivering. All these roles are multifunctional; you’ll be expected to contribute to the work of the team, which includes keeping the store, the customer waiting area, and the store frontage clean, presentable and welcoming.
Irish vacancies may not be posted on the Domino’s website – but check there first . If you cannot find any vacancies listed for your local Dominos’ just contact the store directly to find out if they are recruiting.

Domino’s also have a supply chain centre in Naas.  There may be job vacancies for drivers and warehouse and production operatives.

 

 

 

Jobs for Irish Speakers in the EU Commission

Irish has been recognised as one of the official languages of the European Union since 2007 – but  until now it has not been given the same importance as other official languages. In December 2015, the European Council adopted a regulation aimed at ending the derogation of the Irish language  by the end of 2021.  This means that several EU institutions are now preparing to provide Irish language services at the same level as those provided for the other official languages of the EU.

It is estimated there will be up to 180 jobs created  for Irish speakers in the EU institutions in Brussels and Luxemburg between now and the end of 2021.
Recruitment has just begun for the first 62 Translator jobs in Brussels and Luxembourg – and it closes on July 12th.

The jobs are open to university graduates, including those graduating this summer, with an excellent command of Irish and a thorough knowledge of at least two other official EU languages including English, French or German. The salary scale for the positions starts at €4,384 per month. Successful candidates may also qualify for additional allowances depending on their personal circumstances.
